Charges filed against suspect in fatal hit-and-run crash in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker has filed charges against a 29-year-old man suspected in a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

He said in a news release that Cameron Blake Bryant will be formally charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

If convicted, the maximum sentence would be 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Kentwood Police say 17-year-old Stephon Harris was struck by an SUV on Eastern Avenue, south of 52nd Street, on May 6.

Reportedly, was formally charged (arraigned) Friday in Kentwood District Court.

"Mr. Bryant is presumed innocent of these charges until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court," Becker said.
