GRPD asking for community's help identifying murder suspect

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police is asking the community if they recognize a suspect. The individual was allegedly involved in the January 14, 2023 murder of 30-year-old Jontell White.

The incident happened near Metro Grand Rapids club on South Division Avenue between Rose and Stewart streets. A man dressed in black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt or coat walks across the frame in the video. Police highlighted the individual with a orange box. The shooting happened shortly after the video was captured. Police say the suspect fired shots and then ran from the scene.

"We are hopeful that this video release will lead to additional tips in this case," said Chief Eric Winstrom. "If you recognize this person or know anything about the murder, please reach out to GRPD or Silent Observer. Jontell's family deserves answers."
