NEWAYGO, Mich. -- Consumers Energy will perform overnight work in Grant this weekend along M-37 south of M-82.
The work will interrupt service to roughly 2,000 homes and businesses starting at 12 a.m. Sunday, September 14 and running as late as 8 a.m. The work is part of the company's Reliability Roadmap and has a goal of reducing the number and length of power outages in the state.
"We are committed to building a more resilient and efficient electric grid and this substation maintenance work will ensure equipment is in good working order," said Steve Herrygers, senior executive director of high voltage distribution at Consumers Energy. "As we carry out this important work, we are grateful for our customers' patience."
Affected customers should receive a postcard with information on the service disruption. The utility says they schedule projects like this in the overnight hours to minimize impact on customers.
Customers should call Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050 with questions and concerns.
