MI House passes $78 billion budget

LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan House of Representatives is passing a $78 billion budget.

Speaker of the House Matt Hall of Richland held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the budget. Hall says the Value for MI Dollars Budget cuts $5 billion in waste, fraud and abuse and focuses on roads, public safety and education. Hall says the budget puts the people of Michigan first.

The budget passed 59 to 45 with six lawmakers not voting.

The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
