Today, the Cascade Township, Kent District Library held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the finalizing of their months' long renovation project.
The new space now includes expanded seating, updated technology, improved accessibility, and more room for community events and children’s programming.
The ceremony was accompanied by tours of the newly renovated space, community vendor tables and even free ice cream from Culver's.
The renovation project had been going on since January, with the library's main space closed while they underwent construction. Those with the library say they're excited for the community to come and experience all the amenities that the newly renovated space has to offer.
"I'm really proud of creating intentional spaces," said Lulu Brown, Regional Manager of Kent District Library. "A big part of the feedback we were getting was with our children's spaces and programming, and creating spaces for adults, so the children's area is separated so kids can be kids, but adults have their own space too."
"From our newly completed Friendship Park, we're just growing into this beautiful dream of what a library could be, and enjoying the ride." Ashley Smolinski, Regional Manager of the Kent District Library's Caledonia Branch.
The renovation was made possible through funding from the Cascade Township Board and Friends of the Cascade Library.
