The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of Michigan for this weekend.
Heat index values could pass 100 degrees and officials are warning individuals of dangerous heat-related illnesses that could occur.
Individuals should keep themselves hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and avoid outdoor activities in the afternoon.
The Kent County Health Department also recommends checking on family members or elderly neighbors that can be vulnerable to the rising temperatures.
The Kent County Animal Shelter reminds pet owners that animals should be kept inside in this heat as well.
