A man has been arrested for domestic assault after continuously harassing, stalking and assaulting a woman over several months.
The string of incidents began back in December 2024, but paused when the suspect, 32-year-old Christian Montijo from Holland Township, was believed to have moved out of state to avoid police contact. The conduct resumed recently as sheriff's office detectives learned that Montijo had been returning to Ottawa County to continue to harass the victim earlier this month, leading to additional assaults of the victim.
In the early morning hours on Thursday, the victim found Montijo hiding in the back seat of her vehicle as she entered it to go to work. Montijo then damaged the victim's vehicle and fled from responding deputies.
Detectives with the Ottawa County Sheriff's office, alongside Michigan State Police, were able to locate Montijo in South Haven later that afternoon. He was taken into custody and is currently lodged at the Ottawa County Jail on numerous charges, where he remains on a $150,000 cash bond.
