One person was taken into custody after demonstrators outside the Kent County Courthouse got loud on Tuesday afternoon.
Demonstrators in support of former police officer Christopher Schurr and in support of Patrick Lyoya clashed around 5 p.m. Police officers on bikes moved in between the groups and used their bikes as barriers.
Officers used what they called "inert powder" as a warning and took one person away with their hands restrained behind their back.
The clash comes as a jury wrapped up a second day of deliberations in the second-degree murder trial of Schurr. The jury will return on Wednesday morning to continue their discussions.
