A new tiny home community is being built in Grand Rapids.
The development is called Hope Village and it will include 16 homes. Six of those homes are under construction.
The homes are located near Mel Trotter Ministries' Next Step facility on Garden Street SE. The homes will range from 400 to 530 square feet.
The tiny home community is a partnership between several local nonprofits. Many people constructing the homes are participating in a job training program.
Mel Trotter CEO Chris Palusky says the village is part of a broader plan to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
