Former MI state trooper's murder trial will not begin on April 21

The murder case of a former Michigan State Police sergeant will not move forward on April 21.

Brian Keely was set to have a final pretrial conference on March 19 before a trial by jury in April.

A federal court ordered the court dates be cancelled.

An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for April 21 in Lansing instead.

Keely is charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for the death of Samuel Sterling.
