Tree thief pleads no contest to swindling trees across West MI

A serial tree thief pleaded no contest after swindling the trees of not only people in Lowell, but other cities across the West Michigan

On Tuesday, 57-year-old Dallas Mitchell Anderson took a lesser charge in front of a Kent County judge for the malicious destruction of property worth less than $200, which is a misdemeanor that carries up to 93 days behind bars.

Anderson would go purchase a tree off a property, then it would turn out that it wasn’t on the property of the person who signed the contract, causing it to turn into a civil issue. He targeted upwards of a dozen Lowell homeowners who happened to have valuable black walnut trees growing on their properties, which have a value of $5,000.
