SpartanNash apologizes for unexpected fireworks display on Tuesday night

SpartanNash is apologizing for the unexpected fireworks display that surprised Grand Rapids residents Tuesday night.

Several members of the community took to social media to express concern and confusion about the loud noises.

The fireworks were a part of the annual Food Solutions Expo, bringing together more than 1,500 food and grocery suppliers and independent retail customers to downtown Grand Rapids. The fireworks were meant to celebrate the expo's 120th anniversary.

SpartanNash says they recognize that they should have provided advanced notice to nearby residents, and that they apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Now they are offering a 10% online discount for its local stores.
