Man in stolen car arrested after crash in Lowell

A 20-year-old man from Greenville now faces felony and misdemeanor charges after stealing a vehicle and leading police officers on a chase that ended in a serious-injury crash.

It all happened yesterday around 11:30 a.m. in the morning. In a news release, police officers with the Lowell Police Department say officers spotted a stolen vehicle at Main and Hudson streets, but the driver took off when they pulled up. They say he was zipping down Hudson Street when the car hit another vehicle head-on. That other driver is now being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.

After the crash, police say the suspect got out and took off running. With the help of a K-9 and a drone, police tracked the suspect down about a half-hour later. His name will be released after formal charges are read in court.
