Crashes decrease during first year of hands-free driving law

Crashes in Michigan are down one year after the state's hands-free driving law went into effect.

The Governor's Highway Safety Association shows that in the first 7.5 months after the law went into effect, crashes reduced by 9.5 percent.

City of Wyoming Police Captain Eric Wiler says locally the trend is occurring as well.

Wiler says the city saw a 6 percent decrease in crashes.
