Strong storms swept through West Michigan Tuesday morning downing trees and power lines and leaving thousands without power.
Consumers Energy says over 160,000 customers lost power statewide.
Nearly a third of the outages were in Ottawa, Muskegon and Kent counties.
The utility says its is working around the clock to get power restored however some outages may last several days.
Crews are being brought in from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, West Virginia and Kentucky to help with the effort.
