Michigan law to require dental assessments for kindergarteners

A new Michigan law will require kindergarteners to have oral health assessments before the school year.

The law was passed in December and will be phased in over a three-year period.

Ottawa, Oceana, Montcalm and Newaygo counties will be included in the areas requiring assessments before next school year.

Dental assessments will be free through the local health department or can be performed by private offices.
