GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Grand Rapids is telling roughly 20,000 residential and commercial customers to boil their water until further notice.
Water system manager Wayne Jernberg tells WOOD-TV permanent repairs will start today on a broken water main.
"Boil your water, be safe, don’t take any chances," Jernberg said. "Those outside of that region, there are no issues, the water is completely safe."
The affected area spans east of the Grand River and north of Hall Street. Grand Rapids Township is also affected.
Residents are being told to boil their water for a minute and allow it to cool before using.
The city warns the advisory could be in place for several days.
