GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Officials at Mel Trotter Ministries say the cold weather is stretching them to their limits.
The organization says all 600 of their beds were full last night.
Interim Chief Executive Gordon Oosting tells WOOD-TV that can take more people in overflow spaces, as long as they have one staff member for every fifty people served.
"Security is a huge issue," Oosting said. "Keeping staff safe, keeping the guests safe is really a number one priority."
Oosting says they are putting out a call for more volunteers and food.
