The United Auto Workers union expanded its strike against major auto industries on Friday, with workers walking out of General Motors and Stellantis parts-distribution centers across 20 states.
Unlike Stellantis and General Motors, Ford has agreed to some of the union's demands made during negotiations this past week, including the restoration of cost-of-living wage increases better profit-sharing and improved job security, says UAW President Shawn Fain.
Fain hopes that with focusing the strike against distribution centers, the effects of the strike will be far stronger, and force groups like Stellantis and General Motors into similar negotiations.
