Roughly 1,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan workers that are represented by the United Auto Workers union walked off the job on Wednesday.
Workers say they would like to see changes to the outsourcing of jobs to other states or counties and a wage scale gap.
UAW Local 2145 President Janice Hilliard says a lot of their work is being outsourced to vendors in El Salvador or the Philippines.
The strike could impact customer service phone waits.
