Grand Rapids Police say a child fired a gun into the ceiling of a home on Tuesday morning.
Officials say the incident happened around 10:30 a.m.
GRPD says a two-year-old found a Glock 9mm handgun that belonged to his mother and the gun went off, firing into the ceiling.
GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom says the gunshot did not hit anyone, however the child was injured from debris that fell.
Winstrom says the mother is cooperating with the investigation and charges have not been ruled out at this time.
