A new nonprofit is looking to help the community learn about water safety.
West Michigan Water Safety Alliance is planning to begin its water safety ambassador program in the Holland State Park at the end of the month.
Park Township Supervisor Howard Fink says the goal is to help educate people on the dangers of rip currents, structural currents and swimming in Lake Michigan.
The alliance is focusing on education on beaches and in schools.
