The Wyoming City Commission is having their first meeting since Mayor Kent Vanderwood was charged for attempting to redirect electoral votes for the state of Michigan in the 2020 election.
Vanderwood's attorney says the mayor will not be stepping down, however a group is expected to ask for his resignation at a meeting Monday night.
The groups says the charges raise concerns about Vanderwood's abilities to fulfill his duties in a way that upholds the values and principles of elected office.
Vanderwood is among 16 people who are charged in connection to an alleged meeting in 2020 where a document was signed saying Michigan's electoral votes would be directed to former President Donald Trump.
