GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A woman has been ordered to spend at least the next year-and-a-half in prison following the overdose death of her 17-month-old son last June in Kentwood.
Hope Marshall, 27, was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to second-degree child abuse. It was part of a deal with prosecutors that led to an involuntary manslaughter charge getting dropped.
Kaiden Wood was found unresponsive after consuming Marshall's antidepressants, prosecutors said. A marijuana pipe, a soup pot full of vomit and other "hazardous items" were also found in the home.
