Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is giving away 900 gun locks at no cost.
The locks are available through a $15,000 grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The 2021 National Firearm Survey from the Journal of American Medicine Association shows a third of households with children under the age of 18 have a firearm in them.
The survey says 45 percent of home with a gun, do not have the weapon locked up.
