Officials are asking the public to stay away from a lake in Jenison after oil was found at the shoreline.
A kayaker reported oil in the water of a lake at Bend Area Open Space Park in Georgetown Township on Monday.
The Ottawa Parks Commission had the county hazmat team, the fire department, sheriff's office, emergency management and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy visit the site to inspect the area.
Officials say the oil did not appear to be actively releasing on Tuesday as it was confined to one area.
