The Michigan Department of Transportation announced that construction on I-94 between Kalamazoo and Portage is expected to wrap up this summer.
Contractors are projecting that construction between Lovers Lane and Sprinkle road will be completed sometime between late July or early August.
Construction originally began in early 2021 and was expected to be finished by late 2022, but officials overseeing the project said delays in construction were caused by COVID-19 and manufacturing issues with a T-beam for the one of the bridges.
MDOT also stated there will not be any other expansions to I-94 in the near future.
