ZEELAND (WOOD-AM) - Zeeland is considering whether to expand liquor sales in the city to seven days a week.
City Manager Tim Klunder tells WOOD-TV that business has improved since Monday-through-Saturday liquor sales became legal in the city about fifteen years ago.
"We did see an uptick in activity in the downtown area when we stated to have restaurants that were open in the evening hours because they could offer other options," Klunder said.
Klunder was told by council to do some additional research after a liquor store owner mentioned that, this year, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve - two of the biggest bar-going days of the year - fall on a Sunday.
