GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Attorneys who represent former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr are asking a judge to dismiss the second-degree murder charge he's facing in connection with last year's officer-involved shooting death of Patrick Lyoya.
His attorneys cite several reasons, including self-defense and that Schurr had the legal authority to use deadly force.
They also said Kent County prosecutor Chris Becker did not present evidence that Schurr was not acting in self-defense.
