GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Women's professional sports is coming to Grand Rapids.
According to a news release sent out Friday morning, DP Fox Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins, will announce the launch of a women's professional sports team in West Michigan.
While it is unknown what sport the team will play, or what league they will participate in, the team will play at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids.
A press conference is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 5, with DP Fox chairman and CEO Dan DeVos and executive vice president Scott Gorsline being joined by the CEO of the league the team is joining.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
