Grand Rapids Public Schools say a student was taken into custody after it was discovered they had an unloaded gun.
GRPS says the student had not made any threats and cooperated with officials.
Burton Middle School and Burton Elementary School sheltered in place while the situation was handled.
Grand Rapids Police took the student into custody.
A magazine and ammunition were also confiscated.
