BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Kent County Sheriff's Office says a 29-year-old woman was killed, and a 36-year-old man was injured in a crash near Byron Center last Friday afternoon on 76th Street near Indigo Ridge Drive.
Authorities say it happened around 4 p.m. when the man driving a pickup truck slowed to allow a vehicle to make a turn, when a man driving a Jeep tried to pass on the shoulder. The Jeep then quickly pulled back onto the road hitting the truck, sending it over the centerline hitting a sedan.
The woman in the sedan has been identified as Misty Rackow of Allendale, while the driver of the pickup truck was seriously injured.
The driver of the Jeep was not hurt. The sheriff’s office said Monday it was still investigating. When its case is completed, it will be sent to the county prosecutor, who will decide what, if any, charges are appropriate.
