FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians are waiting for a decision this week from the governor on whether they'll be approved for a casino resort.
The tribe has been working for the past dozen years to get approval to turn the former Great Lakes Downs Racetrack into a casino with 220 hotel rooms.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer filed a six-month extension in December and asked for more time in May, but the Interior Department denied the request.
It's believed that she has until Thursday to make a decision.
