A new state-of-the-art tool will be used in Grand Rapids for the first time in the U.S. for patient care.
The Dough Meijer Medical Innovation Building will soon be home to the total body PET and CT scanner.
The device will cut down the amount of time it takes to scan patients and will use less radiation while creating more detailed images.
Cheri Gottke, vice president of molecular imaging and digital radiography with United Imaging, says the technology cuts the time frame for imaging from 20-45 minutes down to 30 seconds to three minutes.
