SAUGATUCK, Mich. (WOOD) — On Friday in Saugatuck, the only duck boat crew in town was giving tours as usual.
But word of the tragedy in Missouri was in the backs of their minds.
"Our thoughts and prayers do go out to everyone involved in the tragedy in Branson, Missouri," Harbor Duck Adventures, Co. spokesman Tyler Lecceadone said.
Dramatic cell phone video captured the stormy scene moments before a Ride the Ducks boat capsized in Branson, killing at least 17 people.
Investigators are blaming strong storms that came on quickly with winds that topped out at 65 miles per hour.
"You never wanna see something like that, by any business," Lecceadone said of the incident.
The duck boat in Saugatuck, like others, is a converted World War II vessel that can ride on land or in water.
On Friday, operators of the popular tourist attraction wanted to send a message of reassurance.
