WEST MICHIGAN -- The earlier storm watches and warnings expired in the WOOD Radio listening area by 4 p.m. Monday, but not before high winds from a severe thunderstorm brought down some tree branches and power lines.
The Gerald R. Ford International Airport reported a wind gust as high as 75 miles per hour
WOOD-TV reports the roof of the Lakewood Early Elementary Center in the Village of Woodland suffered major damage. Police said no one was injured.
Consumers Energy is reporting about 54-thousand power outages late this afternoon, with the heaviest concentration in Kentwood and Cutlerville in southern Kent County, plus the Plainwell and Otsego areas in southern Allegan County.
