WAYLAND, Mich. -- Consumers Energy and ITC Michigan will be making some upgrades to equipment in Wayland this week to improve electrical service for customers.
The work will begin at 11 p.m. Thursday and run until 8 a.m. Friday. Consumers Energy says the overnight work will temporarily impact about 1,300 customers in the area around U.S. 131, south of Wayland.
Postcards have been mailed to affected customers in the area.
Consumers Energy provided more details in a news release:
“We know reliable electricity is essential to our customers, and outages are only scheduled when this critical work can’t be completed any other way,” said Steve Herrygers, senior executive director of high voltage distribution. “Our crews are coordinating closely with ITC to carry out these upgrades safely and efficiently, and we thank customers for their understanding as we work together to secure the electric grid.”
Postcards have been mailed to affected customers in the area. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for outage alerts at ConsumersEnergy.com/alerts to receive real‑time updates on their scheduled outage and any changes to the planned work. Consumers Energy often schedules work like this overnight, when many people are asleep, to minimize disruptions to businesses or other activities.
