WALKER, Mich. -- The Walker Police say the man suspected of opening fire inside the Meijer Distribution Center on Saturday morning was arraigned Monday.
It said in a news release that 33-year-old Joshua Love was charged with the following counts:
- Weapons: Assault with Intent to Murder
- Weapons: Firearms -Discharge in or at inside a building
- Weapons: Carrying a concealed weapon
- Weapons: Felony firearm.
Bond was set at one-million dollars.
Police said Love approached an employee inside the warehouse around 8:30 a.m. and pointed a pistol at his head. The victim reacted quickly and pushed the gun away, just before a shot was fired. They said the victim was able to disarm Love and wrestle him to the ground. He was held to the ground until officers arrived.
The Walker P.D. added, "Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, further details will be shared at a later time."
Meijer sent WOOD Radio News an email statement:
The safety and well-being of our team members will always be our top priority. The arrested individual was a third-party contractor, not a Meijer employee. We appreciate law enforcement’s quick response and will continue to cooperate with them on their investigation.
