LYONS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ionia County Sheriff's Office says a 78-year-old Pewamo resident has died after his ATV collided with a car in Lyons Township.
It happened around 1:50 p.m. Sunday on East Blue Water Highway at Cook Road. Deputies say the ATV failed to yield at the signed intersection.
Police said the driver was ejected from the ATV and later flown to a hospital with critical injuries. Police say he has since died. His name had not been released yet at the time of this report.
It was one of three fatal crashes in West Michigan over the weekend. The first happened around 12:25 a.m. Sunday on State Road just west of 136th Avenue in Crockery Township. Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies say a 35-year-old motorcycle driver tried to zoom around a pickup truck that was backing out of a driveway. The bike hit the front of the car, and the Spring Lake man died at the scene.
At the Grand Rapids/Wyoming border around 11:40 last night, a car was broadsided by a vehicle at 28th Street and Division Avenue.
