GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - You can support Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan by donating essential items throughout the month of May to help families with children who are receiving medical care.

RMHCWM President and CEO Salina Bishop told WOOD Radio News in a telephone interview the " “Bloom Into Giving” collection drive will run from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day at the Ronald McDonald House at 1323 Cedar St. in northeast Grand Rapids.

"It's just a really simple way for our community to show up for our families when they need it most," Bishop said.

You can donate individually packed grab-and-go food items like fruit snacks and chips, plus toiletries, paper products, disinfectants and laundry soap. The drop-off site is at the vestibule behind the Ronald McDonald House, next to the garage in back.

"Everything that is donated is used right away," Bishop said. "The things that are donated are the exact items our families use."

Ronald McDonald House and Clark Communications provided more details in a news release:

As Spring arrives, it brings new opportunities to support families when they need it most. Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan is hosting its “Bloom Into Giving” Collection Drive throughout May, inviting the community to donate essential items that directly support families whose children are receiving medical care.

While donations are appreciated year-round, May’s month-long drive highlights the organization’s most urgent needs. Items such as toiletries, paper products, and grab-and-go snacks help ensure families can focus on their child’s health without worrying about everyday essentials.

“When families walk through our doors, they’re often facing some of the hardest moments of their lives,” said Casey Gritter, Mission Services Director at Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan. “Donations from this help wrap families in comfort and support during that time.”

Donations can be dropped directly at the House, located at 1323 Cedar St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
