CLYDE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Allegan County Sheriff's Office says a preliminary investigation reveals that 42-year-old Elisha Marie Mulcahey shot her 10-year-old son dead before turning the gun on herself.
Deputies said in a news release they forced entry into the home near Fennville while doing a welfare check Wednesday morning. That was after they saw the boy's body inside while looking through a window. The location was near 56th Street and 113th Avenue, in Clyde Township.
Investigators said the preliminary investigation shows Mulcahey shot her son before turning the gun on herself. But that has not been confirmed yet, as the investigation continues.
Police said they found the bodies of Mulcahey and her son, Daniel Alexander Baez, inside. Lieutenant Mike Brown says investigators are trying to figure out the circumstances that led to the shootings.
"We do have some citizens that have come forward already and spoken with us about their knowledge of their people who lived inside the residence," Brown said.
