PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A 21-year-old Grand Rapids man is dead following a one-car rollover crash in Port Sheldon Township on Wednesday morning.
It happened on Van Buren Street near 152nd Avenue around 7 o'clock. It was the first of two fatal crashes Wednesday involving drivers from Grand Rapids. It was the first of two fatal crashes in Ottawa County on Wednesday morning. The other occurred in Zeeland Township.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says he was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene by first responders.
Van Buren was under construction at the time. Deputies said a preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was heading west in the eastbound lane when it went off the gravel shoulder into sand and lost control.
At the time of publication late Wednesday morning, the man's name had not been released yet.
Besides OCSO deputies, the Port Sheldon Township Fire Department and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene.
