GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Michigan State Police report multiple injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on southbound US-131 in Grand Rapids early Saturday morning

It happened around 1:30, just past Burton Street.

MSP said its preliminary investigation indicates a black BMW was traveling too fast for the icy road conditions, lost control, and crashed. Several other vehicles then lost control and collided. A Life EMS ambulance that was stopped on scene with its emergency lights activated was also struck.

Troopers said none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

The freeway was closed for about 90 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.

"Please remember: Slow down and drive for the conditions," MSP said in its news release. "Even a small increase in speed can make a big difference on icy roads."
