GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- The Grandville Public Schools have announced that John Philo will become the district's new superintendent, pending contract negotiations.
He is currently the assistant superintendent of Human Resources. The Grandville school board made the selection after interviewing Philo on Tuesday evening.
The district says he has experience in classroom teaching, school leadership and human resources at the Grandville Public Schools.
Philo will replace current superintendent Roger Bearup, who will be retiring at the end of the school year in June.
Here are more details from a statement released by the district:
Philo is a familiar leader in Grandville, with a deep understanding of our schools, our people and the responsibility that comes with this role. He knows this school community and is ready to lead it forward with a focus on what matters most: our students.
Philo holds advanced degrees in educational leadership. With experience in classroom teaching, school leadership and human resources at Grandville Public Schools, he brings both perspective and a strong foundation to the role. Philo will begin serving as superintendent this summer following the retirement of Superintendent Roger Bearup.
As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for the leadership that has guided us and confidence in the leadership that will carry Grandville forward. Together, we will continue improving lives by producing successful, lifelong learners. #WeAreGPS #BulldogPride
