Ford International Airport reports no significant TSA-related disruptions

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- More than 300 Transportation Security Administration agents have resigned during the partial government shutdown, which began January 31.

According to multiple media reports, they have cited severe staffing shortages and long security lines. However, operations are running normally at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport at the current time.

That is according to its communications supervisor, Heidi Groenboom. She sent WOOD Radio News a written statement saying Ford International is in frequent communication with the T-S-A, which says its staff at the airport has not had significant disruptions to operations.

"Passengers may have seen delays due to storms in parts of the country and are encouraged to check with their airline for flight updates," Groenboom said in the statement.

Ford International is reminding guests to arrive two hours ahead of their scheduled departure times, especially with the anticipated uptick in passenger traffic once spring break begins.

" We recommend visiting our website at FlyFord.org to view parking spaces available in our Garage, North, and Economy Lots," Groenboom said.
