Man with possible dementia issues missing from home found safe

Update from GRPD:

Donald Eckholm was located a short time ago. He and the dog were unharmed. GRPD appreciates the assistance in getting the word out.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Police say a 71-year-old man who may may be experiencing issues with dementia was reported missing Monday evening.

They say Donald Eckholm was last seen leaving a home on Poinsettia Avenue near Langley Street around 5:30 p.m. That is north of 44th Street. He was walking his dog, a chocolate labrador, at the time.

Eckholm is white, about 5'8", 190 pounds with white hair. {See the attached photo}

Police said he did not have a phone with him when he left.

The GRPD is asking for the public's help. If you have seen Ekholm or have any information on his location, contact the Grand Rapids Police at 616.456.3400 or contact 911, if emergency circumstances are present.
