1:45pm Update: Ottawa County Central Dispatch says the fire has been extinguished, and a backhoe was brought in to clear rubble so firefighters could access portions of the structure during suppression operations. The building was a total loss.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Crews are working to put out a fire at a business in Grand Haven this afternoon.
Ottawa County Central Dispatch tells us it broke out around 11:25 a.m., and the roads in the immediate are shut down. WOOD Radio's Dave Wheaton reported from outside Dick's Towing on North 7th Street at Madison Street that the fire was well-involved and parts of the building were crumbling during the noon hour.
There was no initial word whether there were any injuries or how the fire started.
Firefighters from Grand Haven City, Grand Haven Township and Ferrysburg were all responding to the fire.

At 11:26 a.m., Grand Haven Public Safety units were dispatched to the 300 block of Seventh Street for a report of a fully involved commercial fire.
Upon arrival, crews found the building heavily involved in fire. Due to the conditions, a defensive fire attack was initiated.
Firefighters quickly established operations and successfully protected nearby exposures. A backhoe was requested to assist with accessing portions of the structure during suppression operations. The building is considered a total loss.
Grand Haven Public Safety was assisted on scene by Grand Haven Township Fire Department, Ferrysburg Fire Department, Life EMS, Grand Haven BLP, and Michigan Gas. Spring Lake Township Fire Department and Robinson Township Fire Department provided station coverage for area departments during the incident.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
