SPRING LAKE, Mich. -- The first in a series of public hearings to garner input on mental health services in Ottawa County comes up Monday night in Spring Lake.
Each hearing will include a presentation followed by a public comment period, as the county Board of Commissioners considers transitioning Community Mental Health from a county department to an authority.
As an authority, it would be an independent governmental entity with its own decision-making power.
Monday's hearing will get underway at 6 p.m. at the Spring Lake Community Center.
Here are more details on the meeting schedule in a county news release:
To provide an opportunity for all speakers and to ensure the meeting proceeds efficiently, public comments will be limited to three minutes per person.
Hearing Dates
- January 19, 6:00 PM
- Spring Lake Community Center
- 15549 Cleveland Street, Spring Lake
- January 20, 6:00 PM
- Georgetown Township Public Library - Lower Level
- 1525 Baldwin Street, Jenison
- February 5, 6:00 PM
- Ottawa County Department of Public Health - Main Conference Room
- 12251 James Street, Holland
It is important to note that the public comment period is not a "question and answer" session. Questions may be posed; however, they will not be answered during the hearings. All questions will be compiled and addressed at a later date.
Community feedback is an important part of the decision-making process. Residents are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives to help inform the Board of Commissioners as it considers this matter.
