In the early hours of Sunday (December 21), a shooting occurred on the southeast side of Grand Rapids, resulting in the death of an adult male. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) responded to reports of a shooting on the 700 block of Lafayette Avenue SE. Officers found the victim with critical injuries, and he was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
A person of interest was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m., according to the GRPD. The identities of the victim and the person of interest have not been released. The investigation is being conducted by the Major Case Team and remains ongoing.
