Police charge Holland man in connection with double shooting

HOLLAND, Mich. -- Police have released the booking photo of a 48-year-old Holland man who was arraigned Monday in connection with the shooting of two people on November 15.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says Andrew Harper of Holland is charged with assault with intent to commit murder, felony assault and felony firearm as a four-time habitual offender.

After an argument with multiple people in a parking lot on Douglas Avenue near River Avenue, Harper allegedly began shooting. A 25-year-old Holland man and a 27-year-old Jenison man are recovering from their injuries.

The OCSO said right after the Nov. 15 incident:

"Investigation shows that the shooting followed an argument/assault at the nearby business which happened several minutes before. Multiple individuals then went into the parking lot area, at which time a male suspect produced a firearm and began shooting at the victim and acquaintances who fled on foot across Douglas Ave into a nearby parking lot where several unoccupied vehicles were struck by gunfire. Douglas Ave was closed down for several hours for investigation and has since been reopened. Investigation is ongoing and there is no danger to the public at this time."
